The Training Programme is usually based at The Royal Foundation of St. Katharine, 2 Butcher Row, London, E14 8DS (http://www.stkatharine.org.uk) Training seminars take place at variuos times during the academic year.

The complete training programme involves:

150 Hours of theoretical teaching applied to sandplay practice.

Attendance at a National and/or International Sandplay conference.

Two written symbol papers are required: One from reference material and one from case material.

A minimum of eighty Supervision hours of work with clients in Sandplay. (Working with clients in Sandplay may only commence after forty theoretical hours and after the first written symbol paper is completed.) Supervision must be by a Teaching Member of the Society.

Finally: preparation of a written and illustrated Case Study, under guidance of an Advisor. This will also be submitted to three International Readers one of whom must be a BISS Teaching Member, and if accepted will lead to membership of BISS and ISST.

Outline of BISS Theoretical teaching PDF Print E-mail
BISS theoretical teaching is provided by a wide variety of trainers. It is not an alternative psychotherapy training, but focuses specifically on Sandplay in relation to a number of topics considered to be of central importance. Where ever possible theoretical material is always related to, and illustrated with actual Sandplay images and case material.
